Guild Wars 2 vs. WoW: Apples, Oranges Unite

Well then , i'll start this by nevertheless I’ve been playing WoW since i have was brought to the sport in 2005. I shamefully have 5 level 80s as of now.

When I first discovered Guild Wars 2 I had been more intrigued from the art compared to the game itself, though WoW had been getting stagnant if you ask me after Cataclysm and so i figured I’d spend money on GW2 and brace myself for either the ensuing addiction or heavy disappointment.

Fortunately, GW2 has landed somewhere in the center for me…

Guild Wars 2 Review :

Expansive Landscape -

First thing I noticed about Guild Wars 2 is the fact it is quite just like the Warhammer MMORPG with regards to the public quests and the way gigantic the globe seems. This is a good thing since it leads to the lore and visual kind of the action, but it surely could be overwhelming when you land up worrying that you missed something as you go along otherwise you get frustrated since there are areas you can't reach. Wow does things right keeping the environment contained, however Wow does not make use of the same elements as GW2, which necessitate an empty environment.

Questing -

The game provides an awesome linear personal storyline for the character, which adds structure and which has been missing in the Warhammer and WoW and incredibly much specific to the Gi joe MMO. I think this element adds gameplay value because it feels as you are playing a typical game and working up to and including goal on your own pace. Unfortunately, the personal storyline is difficult being in line with as you find yourself leveling too slow to maintain the level requirements for every personal story quest.

I realize and here , the general public questing can be purchased in, but given the simple fact it’s not linear, it might be confusing to search coming from a linear route to a non-linear one. Public questing is a good thing, and that i loved it in Warhammer, but it really should blend using the additional factors in a very game which is a aspect GW2 fails to deliver in.

Understanding that, however, I still benefit from the public quests immensely. They’re super easy to purchase and usually there’s group remaining to finish the inside pursuit of the general public quests (this usually involves killing at the very top, that you simply need a group for). The only real issue I foresee is the place the surge of players slows high’s less people participating in public quests and subsequently, less people to help eliminating the elites. This can be very frustrating for any player who wants to have his own pace and quest alone.

One of the things they have implemented that can help with all the grind of questing is a system that lowers the level of players ot match the zone. This implies friends can group along and run the same quests on the same level. It is quite not the same as WoW’s system which penalizes advanced players who help you their lower level friends.

Battle -

Battling is fast-paced, fun and can involve a lot of running about, which can be just as before just like Warhammer. WoW however is frequently combining movement and stand still battling.

Abilities -

There exists a distinct over-abundance of abilities with GW2 i believe it was an effort on Arenanet to get rid of the archetypal dps/heal/tank roles. This is a noble goal, however I think it eliminates structure from the game and give lots of choices towards the player. This, in turn, leads to confusion. The tranquility of and synergy of spells and abilities is additionally the reason I enjoyed WoW so much.

With that being said, for Engineer I really do enjoy being able to switch kits or packs to supply my character different abilities. It adds another dynamic towards the game when you finish up in a situation in which you should make a wide range of AOE or healing.

Conclusion -

Frankly, comparing this to WoW can be quite much an apple/orange situation given that WoW and GW2 use contrasting mechanics for his or her game systems.

I've got to say though that GW2 has were able to collect great elements of other MMORPGS right into a decent game. Extra top of the proven fact that there’s no subscription fee, and the game can be a great deal.
